UPDATE: Four Gone, But the Rest Are Holding Strong

It’s now August, and I’ve officially lost four goats to parasites this season. Four. Each one was part of the heart of this farm, and their loss hits hard every time I walk the pasture.

But there’s hope.
The rest of the herd is looking stronger. Coats are improving. Energy is coming back. The ones who made it through are fighting, and I’m fighting right alongside them.

Next step? Fecals.

I’ve got my vet running tests while I save up for a microscope of my own. I want to be able to stay on top of this from here on out—no more waiting, no more guessing. Just solid data and action.

This year has changed how I manage goats forever. And honestly? I’ll never go back to “wait and see” parasite control again.

To everyone in the middle of this battle: I see you. You're not a bad goat owner. You're not alone. You’re learning, adapting, and doing the hard work that doesn’t always show on the surface.

We keep going—because they’re worth it.
